Overview

Notes:

Rick Bass (moderator and executive director of the Boulder Software Club) gave me some feedback on this presentation. He didn't think that the phrase "Inconclusive conclusions" was very funny. It's important to listen to feedback, and to incorporate it into your own world view. In this case, I think Rick is wrong. In my heart, I know I am funny, and the line stayed in.

Feedback requires a conscious evaluation so it is not a simple reflex, like a fish's startle response. If you jump when you hear any sound, you may hit your head. You do need to be listening all the time so you can differentiate between sounds that require immediate action and ones that don't. Blink is an excellent book by Malcom Gladwell about reactions to feedback if you would like to explore more about this subject.
